Partial Hospitalization Programs

Receive Intensive Daytime Treatment and Avoid the need for Hospitalization

The partial hospitalization program (PHP) at Alvarado Parkway Institute is an intensive outpatient clinical treatment program that serves adults ages 18 and older diagnosed with a mental illness or substance abuse disorder. Daily life can be challenging for individuals suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, anxiety and addiction, and many require daily assistance in managing their symptoms. Our partial hospitalization program provides the daytime structure and support these clients need to live a balanced, healthy life.

What is Partial Hospitalization?
Partial hospitalization combines the intensity of inpatient treatment with the flexibility of outpatient care to help individuals struggling with a mental illness or substance abuse disorder. It is the highest and most intensive level of outpatient services. At Alvarado Parkway Institute, PHP is offered five days a week from 9:00am to 3:00pm. In the evenings, clients return home to be with family or friends and to practice the skills they’ve learned. As part of this structured programming, clients enrolled in PHP participate in individual and group therapy, psychiatric assessments, and stress management and relaxation training. Therapists also help clients prepare for life after the program.

Clients are typically referred to partial hospitalization when they have high risk for relapse and/or are experiencing psychiatric symptoms that are challenging to deal with, yet don’t require around-the-clock care. The goal of our program is to prepare clients who suffer from mental illness or addiction with the skills they need to manage their lives in a safe and healthy way without excessive disruption to their daily routines.
