Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Megan was taught from an early age that a strong work ethic, developing personal excellence and encouraging the same in others is the way to make a positive impact in the world. Megan graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Psychology from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama and Summa Cum Laude, with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Houston, Texas.

A pragmatic, results-oriented leader, Megan’s success has been in her commitment to identifying practical, quantifiable systems to promote continuous quality improvement.  She has an innate ability to identify and implement ideas that make a positive and measurable impact by empowering individuals and teams toward a common goal.

Megan began her career in Psychiatry as an Occupational Therapist at Columbia West Florida Medical Center in Pensacola, Florida.  Three years later she moved to San Diego, married and began working with Sharp Healthcare.

Megan joined Alvarado Parkway Institute in 2000 and quickly assumed the role of Director of Adjunctive Therapy where she expanded the hospital’s program to include several new supportive therapies such as spiritual care, pet therapy, and established the Discovery Clubhouse, a mental health initiative in partnership with the County of San Diego and in alignment with the International Center of Clubhouse Development.

Megan held several leadership positions within the organization and in 2009 was promoted to Chief Operating Officer where she skillfully facilitated hospital operations with a data-driven and quality improvement focus. In 2010, Megan was nominated California State Assembly Woman of the Year and in 2011, was awarded Manager of the Year by San Diego County Mental Health.  Recently, Megan led the organization in the acquisition, start-up, licensure and accreditation of a Home Health agency as a part of the hospital’s continuum of care expansion.

In April 2018 Megan will begin serving as Chief Executive Officer of Alvarado Parkway Institute.

Megan currently resides in the community of Imperial Beach with her husband Mark West, and her two 4-legged children, Nani a Golden Doodle and Chloe a Great Pyrenees.  Megan considers herself a bit of a foodie who enjoys adventure travel, yoga, being outdoors, and spending time with Mark and their pups.
