We Believe in Ongoing Support for Our Patients, Even After Treatment
At Alvarado Parkway Institute, it is important to us that every one of our patients succeeds in his or her life after treatment. That's why we host an after-care group, where alumni can come share their experiences and receive ongoing support from our staff and from each other. We also welcome, and even encourage, family member participation. See what program coordinator, Yasmin, has to say about it below.
My name is Yasmin, and I work as a treatment coordinator at API-OPS-San Diego. I have earned a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of San Diego, and I am currently registered as a Professional Clinical Counselor Intern (PCCI). Currently, I am working on becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I recently took on leading the after-care group because I enjoy learning how our patients who have gone through our facility (inpatient hospitalization, outpatient services, and more) are doing in their day-to-day lives.
In our group, we process life stressors and how this impacts our current stability, which could include symptoms or substance use. In addition, members of the after-care group are encouraged to bring family members, to help resolve any issues that may be impacting their stability. I love being able to not only interact with the members of the group, but also their family members as well, because family support is an integral part of the recovery process. My hope for this group is that each group member feels that they are supported, and that they are continuing their process with reintegrating back into the community.
