The Discovery Clubhouse at API is part of the continuum of care that Outpatient Services provides to the community. It is client centered and operated and is focused on decreasing the stigma of mental illness.

The Discovery Clubhouse member's mission is to work as a community of friends to help one another be productive and grow to their healthiest and greatest potential.

Focusing on strengths and skills instead of deficits and limitations, the Clubhouse members participate in an array of activities that build upon individual strengths while creating a sense of belonging and appreciation for other members and their strengths.

• Positive Socialization
• Leadership Skills
• Community Outings
• Vocational Rehabilitation
• Computer Skills
• Gardening
• Library
• Operation and Management of Thrift Store
• Creation and Distribution of Clubhouse Newsletter

While the Discovery Clubhouse Model recognizes that each individual is working on different goals, there are goals for which all members strive to achieve. They are:

  • Members developing a feeling of satisfaction and productivity
  • Members developing the expectation that they can and do make a difference
  • Members providing a safe, non-threatening community where they can develop meaningful relationships as well as productive, positive activities in their lives
