Frequently Asked Questions

1. What type of insurance do you accept?
Alvarado Parkway Institute accepts, Medicare, TriWest, and most private insurance plans.  API also offers competitive self-pay rates.

2. Do you have support group meetings or aftercare meetings?
API offers a free aftercare program which meets on a weekly basis for a full year following inpatient discharge. The current Support Group meeting     schedule is currently under construction but can be seen under Current News in the future.

3. What is your admission process?  How long does it take?
First, call 1-800-766-4724 to schedule an appointment.  An Intake/Call Center staff member will complete an initial assessment and determine the     level of care which is appropriate to the individual’s needs.  The assessment services staff assists in obtaining appropriate insurance    authorizations and facilitates financial arrangements.  Referrals may also be provided.  The Assessment takes approximately 1-2 hours.

4. What should I bring with me to the assessment?
If you are scheduled for an assessment, please bring a current list of your medications and any medical documentation you think might be helpful  in order to coordinate care.  If you suspect you may need inpatient admission, it is suggested that you bring 3 to 4 days of casual clothing and personal  items.  Please leave jewelry and valuables at home.  To protect patient confidentiality, cell phones are not allowed in the inpatient care areas, but there are public phones available on each unit.

5. Do I have to make an appointment or can I just walk in?
While an appointment is preferred, no one is turned away for not having an appointment.

6. Will I have individual treatment?
Your treatment plan will be specifically individualized to your needs.  Patients are offered both group treatment and individual treatment.

7. Do you do ECT?
API does not do ECT.  However, we do ECT evaluations and referrals.  Patients at API who required ECT are transported to another facility for the     procedure and return to API once the procedure is complete.

8. Can I have visitors?
You can have visitors.  Visiting hours are from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Monday through Friday and on Saturday and Sunday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.  To ensure patient confidentiality, all Visitors must provide the “patient identification” number prior to their visit.  Patients are given an ID number upon admission and asked to provide the ID number to friends and family who may wish to call or visit during their hospital stay. Patients reserve the right to refuse visitors at any time.
